Remember that time a Russian, a Belly Dancer, and a Yogi walked into Goodwill? Well this weekend I met them all! I wrote a little about Goodwill’s FREE Good Neighbor classes previously, but what I didn’t mention was that I am the one who coordinates and schedules everything for these classes. That means that I go to A LOT of free classes at Goodwill. This weekend alone I went to three classes in as many days.
Saturday morning I was at the Lakewood Ranch store learning how to shimmy and shake in a belly dancing class and then immediately after I was off to the North Sarasota store for Beginners Russian! Russian is the class I have been most looking forward to because I have wanted to learn how to speak it forever. I was not disappointed. Class ended at 2:30pm but I spent the rest of the weekend practicing new phrases with my husband, whom I had convinced to attend the class with me. I’m pretty sure some of my co-workers are going to learn a bit of Russian too as I continue to practice the words and phrases all day every day. Some of them already have post-it notes of the phonetic spellings stuck randomly around their workspaces! Needless to say, I can’t wait for the second class of this six week series next Saturday.
I took a break on Sunday, but last night I attended yet another FREE Good Neighbor class at the Lakewood Ranch Location. This time it was yoga and boy did I need it. As always, Linda (our resident yoga instructor) led a wonderful and supremely relaxing hour of stretching and gentle release. One of the attendees even came up to me after class to double check that it was free. She couldn’t believe she didn’t have to pay for an hour of yoga!
All and all, I had an awesome few days courtesy of Goodwill and it cost me nothing. If you haven’t already, I urge you to check out the FREE Neighborhood Classes calendar at www.experiencegoodwill.org/classes. ALL of the classes are free and there is definitely something to suite every taste. And if there isn’t something on the calendar that strikes your fancy, let me know! I’d love to hear what kind of classes you would like to see offered in the future!
