CALLING ALL BOOK LOVERS!!

Classic Books

Whether you're a fan of the classics or not even sure what counts as 'classic,' we invite you to join us on the third Thursday of each month in our Honore Community Room to discuss a new novel. Pulling from various 'Greatest Books of All Time' lists, each month we will dive into a classic literary gem. Discussion will include our thoughts on the plot, characters, themes, and more! Please be sure to read the monthly book BEFORE the club meeting!

Our current book schedule includes:

March 2018

The Great Gatsby

by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1925)

The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.

April 2018

The Picture of Dorian Gray

by Oscar Wilde (1890)

Wilde's allusive moral tale of youth, beauty, and corruption was greeted with howls of protest on publication.

May 2018

Catch-22

by Joseph Heller (1961)

A satirical, historical novel set during the later stages of World War II from 1943 onwards following the life of Captain John Yossarian - a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier - and the other airmen in his camp.

 June 2018

Moby Dick

by Herman Melville (1851)

The great American novel whose genius was only recognized long after its author was dead. From its celebrated opening line ("Call me Ishmael") it plunges the reader into the narrator's quest for meaning.
