Mission Services

Goodwill Manasota's mission is, "Changing Lives Through the Power of Work."

With the sales of donated goods and through philanthropic donations, Goodwill Manasota is able to assist people with disabilities and other barriers to employment by providing job skills training and employment opportunities. We accomplish our mission through the following Mission Services offered in Sarasota, Manatee, Hardee and DeSoto counties.

Supported JobsPlus
Helps individuals with physical, psychiatric or developmental disabilities gain positive personal and workplace behaviors and skills while earning a paycheck through job opportunities at Goodwill.

Goodwill Works
Employs people with barriers to self-sufficiency, including welfare recipients, recent immigrants, people with disabilities, individuals with a history of chronic unemployment, incarceration and many others.  We help individuals build a strong work history, and develop a launching pad for higher paying jobs outside Goodwill.

Job Connection
Provides free job-placement services to individuals seeking community-based jobs.  We help participants assess their career goals, prepare strong resumes and cover letters, identify prospective employers, and conduct successful job interviews. 

American Veterans and their Families Initiative
Helps returning veterans re-acclimate to civilian life and assists them and their families with employment and other services.  We also provide information and referral and case management services.

Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program
Provides job training, counseling, and placement services to expedite the reintegration of homeless veterans into the labor force.

High School/High Tech
Introduces students with disabilities at DeSoto High School to careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Provides employability skills training, site visits and internships.

Good Neighbor
Provides human-service programs designed to meet the specific needs of neighborhood residents, often through classes and strategic alliances between Goodwill and other organizations. 

Beneva Oaks Apartments
Offers affordable, barrier-free living options for people with physical disabilities and low incomes.  Residents access a wide variety of support through strategic partnerships between Goodwill and other community agencies such as the Center for Independent Living, Meals on Wheels, Senior Friendship Center, and Sarasota County Area Transit.

Workforce Education Program
Provides an opportunity to earn a high school diploma to team members with disabilities who are 22-40 years old.  The program is funded by State Tuition Scholarship funds and is provided in collaboration with Ave Maria Preparatory School.

On-site GED Classes
Provide 90 minutes per week on- the- clock classes to prepare team members who wish to take the GED exam.

Donated Goods Employment Services
Provides full and part-time employment opportunities for over 800 people daily. 

GoodPartner Coach Program
Provides mentoring/coaching services to all Goodwill team members.  Services include comprehensive family assessment of needs and goal setting for team members and their family members, along with all aspects of life coaching to encourage families to reach their goals and to allow team members to succeed on the job.
