#MissionMonday - Joe

Every Monday, we'll be posting a new story of how our mission has assisted people in the community. Be sure to check back each week for a new and inspirational story of someone who was helped by Goodwill Manasota. Changing lives through the power of work...it's what we do.

#MissionMonday - JoeJoe served in the United States Marine Corp from 1984 to 1988. He was having trouble finding employment due to a criminal background and was living at the Salvation Army.

He recently enrolled in Goodwill’s Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) where he worked on creating a resume, interviewing skills and life skills. During his time in the program we provided interview clothing, work clothes and a bike to help with transportation issues. He recently had an opportunity to interview at Goodwill where he put his new skills to the test. He got the job and started as a donation attendant at one of our donation centers.

Joe has been a true asset to his new team according to his supervisors, and he has enjoyed working for Goodwill, as well. He’s also proud to say he recently received his housing voucher from HUD and has moved into his own apartment. He is now living on his own, with a job that he loves. It’s what we do
