SARASOTA/BRADENTON, FL – Goodwill Manasota and The Law Place have team up with David Taylor Photography and Cutting Loose Salon to honor area women veterans with the “Salute the Runway Dinner & Fashion Show,” featuring women veterans walking the runway in fabulous fashions from Goodwill. The event will be held on Thursday, June 16, 6-9pm at the Goodwill Manasota Corporate Campus (2705 51st Ave. E., Bradenton).
Eleven area veterans – including Goodwill Manasota’s director of the Veterans Services Program, C.J. Bannister – will be featured in the fashion show. The keynote speaker is Retired Colonel Linda Gould, who, during nearly 30 years of service in the U.S. Army, rose to the very top of the military world, in many cases becoming the first woman to crash through the Army’s glass ceiling. Mistress of Ceremonies is Veronica Brandon Miller, the vice president of the Goodwill Manasota Foundation. Dinner catered by Kona Grill at UTC, Oak & Stone and other local restaurants.
The women veterans who will model during the fashion show are: Bannister, Corinne Harris North Fuller, Jessica Hughes, Karrie Jewell, Heather Koester, Kimberly Kramer, Angela Mauldin, Danielle O’Brien, Monica Ransone, Julie Simonson and Clara Vazquez.
“Right now we are celebrating three years of providing crucial assistance for veterans through our Veterans Services Program. In that time, we have served 1,266 veterans, connecting them with necessary social services, providing emotional and physical support, offering employment services, and distributing funds for emergency needs,” said Miller. “With this event, we will be combining our reverence for the sacrifices women veterans have made and that U.S. servicewomen continue to make in service to our country with the fun and fashionable side of Goodwill. We hope the community will come out to support the brave and dedicated women veterans of our community.”
Tickets are $75/person; participants can sponsor a woman veteran for $250 or sponsor a table for $600. Proceeds from the event to benefit Goodwill Manasota’s Veterans Services Program. Call (941) 355-2721, ext. 104 or go to www.experiencegoodwill.org/events to purchase tickets online.
